Buying a used vehicle, step by step.

What to prepare so you can compare, ask questions and make an informed choice.

01

Set your full budget

Start with the total amount you want to spend. Allow for taxes, insurance, registration and maintenance. If financing, compare total cost, interest rate and term alongside the payment.

02

Prepare for your visit

List your usual trips, passengers and cargo needs. Ask which records are available: history, maintenance and inspection. A test drive and an independent inspection can help you ask the right questions.

03

Identify the selling dealer

NorDrive helps you search and buy. The partner dealer depends on factors including your area, the vehicle and financing. Before committing, confirm the seller’s name on the contract, delivery terms and your after-sales contact.

04

Understand warranties

The good working order category is only part of the applicable protection. Category D does not mean that all legal warranties are absent. Ask for written terms and distinguish any optional paid warranty.

05

Prepare a sale or trade-in

Gather the year, model, mileage, equipment and recent work. Disclose known accidents or defects. Take clear photos and share your availability. Do not send a driver’s licence or banking details through the public form.

To check your protections: legal warranties — Office de la protection du consommateur (French).
